Beginning of Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) Programs
WAH wants to combine corporate bonding and team building with socially conscious practices. With this in mind, we can help initiate social impact in companies and individuals through onsite awareness visits & team building activities. Our CSR programs are designed to understand more about the role of sustainable impact and help socially conscious individuals and companies contribute in meaningful ways.
Through simple but structured hands-on opportunities, we can help mobilise volunteers to make a difference, while strengthening team collaboration and inclusivity. Companies can use the experience to create a happier, more cohesive and positively empowered work culture. For example, helping to construct a new school water system in one day can provide a clean water supply in a school for 5 years!
WAH volunteer opportunities, contribution matching programs and internships provide the socially concerned with a trusted platform to use their talents to help disadvantaged rural communities, and give committed teams a genuine sense of corporate pride & belonging.
DBS Private Banking Team
In 2017, 20 members the private banking team from DBS spent 3 days with WAH on a team building and awareness trip. They built a water system from scratch, using nuts and bolts and metal WAH specially designed for them. (Normally we weld our systems together). They split up into teams, each team with a specific role, and within one day had a fully operational water system running in a school. They learned about Kampong Chhnang from a river trip to see how farmers and fishermen live, enjoyed the local food, and visited a ceramic and pottery factory. The trip was such a success that every morning in the office the team would greet each other by shouting “WAH”! “Wah lao” is a Singapore term for “Oh my goodness”, and in Hindi means “great”! The team also raised $28,000 for the trip, of which $12,000 was used to set up WAH’s soap making program.
Future
WAH has a partnership Chicken Feet Travels, to offer clients the opportunity to go on social impact trips with WAH. We hope to initiate this partnership once the Covid-19 situation improves.
